This is what I’m looking forward to. I want water, I want light.

I’m on my lunch break right now, drinking my pretentious Starbucks drink (venti soy chai with two shots, because I can.) and thinking about this summer. It will be amazing, I’m sure. I fully expect people to roadtrip to Austin whenever they get the chance!

Also, I want to go camping on the beach. It’s really weird that I don’t live an hour and a half from a beach anymore.

So, I signed up for classes next quarter (which starts halfway through July) and in a fit of excitement signed up for three classes (twelve hours!) on tuesday and one from 1-5 on thursday. So I’m pretty much going to die, or it’s going to be wonderful because I’ll be able to do things on long weekends. I’m going to have four day weekends EVERY weekend! Also, it will help my schedule to be more open for work, which is good cause I need the money!

Also, I’ll be in Houston Saturday night and Sunday! I’m excited. I haven’t seen my whole family in FOUR EVS. Yes. Four.

Anyway, I’m quite looking forward to the summer months.

BRING IT ON. :D

The “Legi-Trip”

30 January 2010

I’m so glad to be warm and dry!

Don’t get me wrong, I love going camping, and I love hanging out with my fellow shindiggers (holla!) But camping this time was wayy crazier (and exponentially more legit than) our other camping trips. I hope we can go somewhere again soon that has bodies of water large enough to go kayaking/canoeing, but this property we went to was pretty awesome. First of all, the entire place was basically mud, especially after we had walked around our campsite for a few hours, it ended up being a big mud pile, haha. All of us had frozen hands and wet/cold feet like the whole time. But we had fun. I always enjoy fire (muahaha!) and Dr. Stuart’s cooking was excellent. He showed us how to use a dutch oven to cook our lunch today over the fire! It was legit, like so many other parts of the trip. Oh, also there were probably upwards of 5 or 6 horses just like walking around the property, which was tight. One of them looked like Shadowfax! I kept saying things like “Show us the meaning of haste!” and other epic things from LOTR, ha.

Anyway, it was another great trip, but my hot shower was wonderful when I got back.

Also I pulled out my old Minolta SLR to take some pictures, which I always enjoy! Oh, and there were also random cows that were always staring at us. Anyway.

Lately I’ve been enjoying Shawn McDonald’s Roots.

Also, the song We Are Hungry:

Lord I want more of You, Living Water rain down on me.

Lord I need more of You, Living Breath of life come fill me up.

We are hungry, we are hungry, we are hungry for more of You,

We are thirsty, oh Jesus, we are thirsty for more of You!

How’s your weekend going?

I’ll be home and I’ll be free
It don’t matter where I lay
All my tears be washed away.

My mom asked me today to learn this song for my grandpa’s (on her side) funeral. It’s called “All My Tears” by Jars of Clay. It’s a beautiful song. It’s very saddening because my moms parents are my closest grandparents. He hasn’t passed away yet but everyone is thinking he will soon because he hasn’t even been getting out of bed recently. So I’ll probably be flying up to Maryland sometime soon. I’m not quite sure how I’ll be able to play that song at his funeral without crying.

In other news, I’m on my way to the sheehan’s friends property to go camping with shindig people this weekend. I brought all my non-medium format film cameras. I’m hoping to get some good photos out of the trip.

Peace.

what a weekend

10 March 2009

After school Friday and all day Saturday I spent with most of the Shindig group camping at Martin Dies Jr. State Park, which is near Jasper, TX. It was really great. Eric and I tried to get some long exposures of the night sky to see more stars than were visible, and we got some good ones, but the sky was cloudy most of the night. The moos was almost full, too, which was really cool, because it meant we could go without flashlights most of the time. We all almost were killed by Tyler Stamps, who is a freaking beast. And also, I fell out of a tree (well, I guess the tree fell with me…) into a river, which was really exciting, and canoed for a few hours. Overall it was really awesome.

Sunday was really different. The sound system currently does not work in the junior high side, so somehow we ended up playing a very acoustic set outside in the YMCA parking lot. (I got to use a shaker! FINALLY.) I think it was really cool, even if the jh’ers didn’t sing as much as I’d like them too. I came home and slept for a few hours, because I was exhausted from camping, then went back up to the church for ministry night, which wasn’t as productive as I would have liked it to be, but there’s not much you can do when the paint’s still wet…
Erin and I are no longer dating. We met Sunday night and I ended the relationship. Don’t worry, we’re still friends, but it would be great if you could keep both of us in your prayers. Sorry if I sound short, I just don’t want to post a lot about it for different reasons. I appreciate all the people who have shown us support, it definitely means a lot.
